2nd-5th Grades

Updated for the 2020-2021 Co-op year!

Each week, 2nd-5th grade students meet in combined classes of approximately 12-14 students (age groups detailed below) for Science, History, Book Club, Art/PE, Choir, and Spanish.

Use these classes as Enrichment Courses OR as part of your at-home lessons. At the elementary level, Monday classes are a wonderful and hands-on enrichment class. Students are not required to purchase the accompanying text book or follow the curriculum at home.

Weekly Assignment Sheets with daily lesson plans will be provided for Science, History, and Book Club (Writing for 4th/5th) as a resource should you wish to purchase the accompanying texts and use the curriculum at home. Add these to your Language Arts/Reading and Math at home, and you have a full year’s worth of core classes!

2nd/3rd

Science  Apologia’s Astronomy presents a scientifically sound and God-honoring study of astronomy. Students will explore the solar system while learning about stars, the Sun, the planets, the moon, meteors, asteroids, galaxies, and astronauts. This course includes several fun lap books, videos, and interactive activities.

History  This year, we are touring the world with Masterbooks Elementary Geography & Cultures!  We will explore continents, countries, and cultures around the globe while discovering biomes, history, government systems, heritage sites, recipes, and our Christian heritage.

Book Club  Book Club will pair missionary stories and projects related to what they are learning in Geography & Cultures. Students will read stories together and discuss the plot, characters, setting and other literary elements. They will summarize the story in their own words, learn how to write a book report as well as re-write the story or put on a play.

Art  Each week, students will study different techniques and will explore using different medias to create their own art.

PE  For PE, students will learn team work while working on coordination and agility through game play. They will also have time in the classroom learning about proper nutrition and making healthy choices in food.
